With my original gaming group way back everyone wanted to take turns GMing, so we all had characters and the rest of the group would play the one for whoever was running things. That character got looked after pretty well because everyone knew it could be theirs in the groups hands next adventure!
Haven't had a chance to try it but it looks well done. There won't be too many surprises for anyone who remembers the gamebook but that's outweighed by the nostalgia feel good factor.Dupont wrote:I am running our group through Firetop at the moment although its been disturbed by a house move on my part. When we do get the chance to get together we are really enjoying it I have to say.
Few surprises as such for those familiar with the original its very true to that ( which I am glad for), however there are some really nice additional wandering monster tables and treasure tables that not only add a lot to the mood but also give the GM plenty to entertain overly confident players who might demonstrate a suspicious amount of knowledge on where to go...
I realised while writing this that I slightly misunderstood the OP. Luckily though I can get back on track a bit; I have been considering having a character myself in play, mainly to try and provide a little background information/advice if needed to help with the party dynamics. it might help to counter one rather impatient player or just add another voice, I just don't want to over cook it.
