Hello all! As I have mentioned in other posts, AFF is great for low/no magic campaigns as the amount of mundane healing is plentiful and the amount of magical healing is very low (sorcerers get a spell that make a healling potion better. Priests can restore stamina twice a day if they spend a luck point).

Attributes

No more MAGIC or magic points. No skill that has the word Magic followed by a dash. MAgic Lore and Second Sight could still be used if magic is still in the campaign.

Healing


Leave as is. If you feel generous, also introduce healing potions that restore 1d6 stamina. These are not magical but mixtures of healing herbs and other healing substances such as willow bark (contains the precursor to aspirin) and honey (a natural antiseptic).

Weapon and armour quality

Enchantments are gone, but weapons and armour made of high quality materials or with great workmanship give bonuses to the rolls. A high quality material gives a +1 bonus to damage or armour rolls. Master crafting gives a +1 or more bonus. Weapons with a +1 bonus to damage rolls are relatively common (owned by knights and experienced adventurers). Weapons with +2 bonuses are owned by lords, royalty and other powerful people (people with a social scale of 8 or more). Weapons and armour with a +3 or more bonus are legendary.

Magic is present, but casting spells is used as a plot device

The heroes can pick the magic lore skill. To cast a spell, you need to recite it properly (roll against magic lore) and have the correct components and possibly be in the correct place. These might be essential or give bonuses to the spell. Magic is used as a plot device - either you need to collect the means to cast a spell to banish a demon or save a village from plague, or enchant an item or travel long distances. Second Sight can be used to detect items that could be used in magical spells.
